Storyboards and Studio
A storyboard has scenes, the scenes have shots, and every shot has one or more panels. Each save of a shot is a version you can go back to.
From the script
Link a storyboard scene to a scene of a screenplay in the project, or let Storyboard scenes of a screenplay build the scenes and first shots for you. When the script changes, linked scenes show it. A shot can point at the lines it shows.
Drawing in Studio
Studio is the drawing app for tablets, phones and computers (in testing; coming to iPad and iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac). Sign in with your untitled.movie account in the browser it opens.
- Pencils, ink and brushes with pressure and tilt, layers, lasso and transform, onion skin, guides, undo.
- When you open a shot, Studio takes it for you, so nobody else changes it at the same time. Your work is saved as a draft on the device and becomes a new version when you check it in. If someone took the shot over in the meantime, nothing is lost: your work is kept as its own version.
- The script panel shows the scene next to the drawing; images from the bible can go into a panel's reference layer.
- Studio's Writing tab opens the same editor as the web.
Animatic and exports
Play the board or a scene as an animatic, with each panel's duration. Exports makes, in the background:
- a storyboard PDF (1 to 9 panels per page),
- an MP4 animatic,
- an edit for Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, an image sequence with timings, an animated GIF,
- a
.storyboarderfile.
Exports are kept for 30 days and can be made again at any time.
Deleting
A shot you delete comes off the board; a saved storyboard version that contains it brings it back. Managers can also delete for good:
- a whole storyboard, with its shots and every version and drawing of them: Settings on the board, then Delete storyboard (in Studio: the menu ⋮ at the top of the board);
- an older version of a shot: the ✕ next to it in the shot's History (in Studio: Delete version in the history). The current version stays; if that is the one to go, restore another one first;
- a saved storyboard version: Delete this version on its page. A shot version that a saved storyboard version contains can only be deleted after it;
- a reference or a look, with its images and clips: Delete on its page (in Studio: the menu ⋮ at the top of the reference). Panels that already show one of the images keep their picture.
None of this can be undone. A whole project goes to the trash instead and can be put back for 30 days.
